Over the next eight years, SRCS' Bond Program will provide much needed capital improvements to our facilities to create safe, innovative learning environments and to provide instructional technology to support 21st century learning. Additional classrooms, labs and equipment will reduce overcrowding in our schools and will meet the growing demand for hands-on science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) classes.

Air Quality and Student Absences

Dear San Rafael City Schools Community,

The continuing effects of the Camp Fire in Butte County on our air quality are challenging, especially for those with breathing sensitivities. We are following guidance from the Marin County Health and Human Services and working closely with the Marin County Office of Education, and all public school districts in Marin County in monitoring any changes.

As parents, you know your student’s health and needs best, and we encourage you to make the appropriate choice for your student in terms of attendance. If you decide to keep your student out of school, please follow the usual attendance protocols for your school. The absence will be excused and teachers will talk with your student about making up the work. Students are not to be penalized for missing these days of school. Teachers will ensure all students who are absent have adequate time to make up any missed exams, and student participation points will not be negatively impacted.

San Rafael City Schools, in collaboration with the Marin County Health and Human Services  and the Marin County Office of Education, will continue to monitor the situation and will send ongoing communication, as needed. Thank you for your support.

Back-to-School 2018

Welcome to the 2018-19 School Year! We are happy to welcome our students, teachers, staff, partners, volunteers and community members to the start of another successful year!

The first day of school is Wednesday, August 23, 2018.

Join the Parcel Tax Committee

SRCS is currently looking for members for its Parcel Tax Oversight Committee. The Oversight Committee is charged with ensuring that special tax proceeds are spent for their authorized purposes, and to report annually to the Board and the public regarding the expenditure of such funds.

San Rafael City Schools conducted an in-depth, targeted and multi-layered engagement process in 2017-18 to update its Local Control Accountability Plans (LCAP) for each district. This engagement process included multiple opportunities to review the LCAP and to provide feedback on the plans to improve achievement for all SRCA students.

The final versions of the LCAPs for 2017-2020 were approved by the SRCS Board of Education on June 27, 2018.

Please visit www.srcs.org/lcap for more information and to download the approved LCAPs. If you have any questions, please email communications@srcs.org or call 415-492-3576.

We celebrate our classified staff

This week we celebrate our fantastic classified employees who work directly with students and behind-the-scenes to make our schools and district outstanding. The week of May 20 is Classified School Employee Week where we honor the contributions, care and talents of our classified staff.  Our Board of Education, Superintendent and administration express gratitude to all of our SRCS classified staff for the great work you do on a daily basis to support our students, teachers and us all.

Happy Day of the Teacher!

On May 9, San Rafael City Schools joins others across the state in celebrating the  California Day of the Teacher! This year’s theme - “California Teachers: The League of Extraordinary Educators” - captures how educators have many extraordinary skills that we pull from to reach and teach students. We are so proud and grateful for our SRCS team of extraordinary educators.

On behalf of the Board of Education, Superintendent and administration, thank you to all of our SRCS educators for the great work you do on a daily basis to help our students succeed.
